OSU Standouts Impressive At Cowboy Combine
June 18, 2021 | Cowboy Basketball
STILLWATER – Cowboy basketball strength & conditioning coach Jake Manzelmann is among the best in the business when it comes to getting his players ready for competition. Last week, he hosted the Cowboy Combine in GIA to get baseline measurements on the players as they begin summer workouts.
The Cowboy Combine is an exact replica of the NBA Combine being held from June 21-27 in Chicago, and measures the players' physical dimensions, strength, agility, straight-line speed and vertical jump.
By now, most Cowboy fans know that Isaac Likekele owns the team's largest hands at 11 inches from thumb to pinky, but Bryce Williams came in a close second at 10.5 inches. Tyreek Smith and Bernard Kouma both registered 10-inch hands as well.
It's no surprise that the team's top shot blockers, Kalib Boone and Smith, also have the largest wingspans on the roster at 7-foot-3. Boone rejected a Big 12-high 49 shots in 2020-21, while Smith led the Texas Tech roster in blocks per minute after sending back 21 blocks. Likekele had the largest wingspan among the OSU guards at exactly 7 feet.
Donovan Williams and Chris Harris turned some heads on the bench press. The strongest players on the Cowboy roster recorded 21 and 18 reps of 185 pounds, respectively.
As fans saw in 2020-21, the Cowboy roster possesses some serious speed to go with its impressive size. Bryce Williams turned in the squad's fastest ¾ court sprint at 3.05 seconds, followed by Rondel Walker at 3.06 and Matthew-Alexander Moncrieffe at 3.10. In fact, 10 Cowboys posted times of 3.18 or better in that drill.
Likekele recorded some of the team's fastest lane agility and lane shuttle times, but he blew the field away with his max vertical leap of 41 inches. He was joined in the 40-inch club by Bryce Williams and Smith. Avery Anderson and Kalib Boone also impressed with 39-inch max vertical leaps. Bryce Thompson and Moncrieffe tied with 38.5-inch verticals.
Cowboy basketball season tickets are on sale now and start at just $150. This year, OSU is offering 20 percent discounts to those who purchase four or more 300-level season tickets. Visit okstate.com/tickets or call 877-ALL-4-OSU to purchase tickets or for more information.
