Hentemann Earns Honorable Mention All-American Status in NCAA Outdoor Season Finale

EUGENE, Ore. – In Oklahoma State's outdoor track and field season finale from day four of the NCAA DI Outdoor Track and Field Championships, Gabby Hentemann earned Honorable Mention All-American honors in her 24th-place finish in the women's 5,000 meters.

Hentemann, a first-year outdoor athlete, competed in the 5K as the No. 18 seed after her personal best performance at the NCAA West Regional Preliminary Championships.

In today's race, Hentemann finished in 24th place in a time of 16:56.70. Although not the race she envisioned, the future is still bright for the young distance talent. She put together quite the resume in her first year with Oklahoma State: third place in the Big 12 Cross Country Championship, five-time point scorer for the Cowgirls in the 2020 cross country season, Big 12 Indoor Champion in the 3,000 meters and member of the winning Cowgirl 4x1600 meter relay at the 2021 Drake Relays.

As the dust settles on an outstanding week of competition from the Hayward Field on the campus of the University of Oregon, the Cowboys scored six team points, which earned them 37th as a team.

Although the 2021 collegiate outdoor season comes to a close, a number of OSU athletes in Isai Rodriguez, Ashton Hicks and Aaliyah Birmingham will be right back in Eugene, Oregon for the US Olympic Trials from June 18-27, while a handful of international student-athletes will return to their home countries for a variety of summer competitions, Olympics Trials and otherwise.
