THE BASICS
In it's final competition of the outdoor track and field regular season, Oklahoma State will travel to Fayetteville, Arkansas to represent America's Brightest Orange in the Arkansas Twilight, hosted at John McDonnell Field – the home of the Razorbacks.
IN THE POLLS
Coming down the stretch into the postseason, the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) ranked the Cowgirls fourth and the Cowboys sixth in the Midwest Region in its most recent edition of the NCAA D1 Outdoor Regional Track & Field Rating Index.
LAST TIME OUT
In last weekend's outdoor action, while a majority of the Pokes competed in Austin, Texas at the Texas Invitational, a number of OSU racers – Gabby Hentemann, Sukhi Khosla and Ryan Smeeton – competed solo on the road at the OSU High Performance Meet and the Kansas City Qualifier. The team's best performances included:
- A school-record performance from the Cowgirls 4x400 meter relay team of Kalaya Ali, Nicolette Dixon, Christina Ollison and Aaliyah Birmingham. The record pace earned the relay unit its second-consecutive event win, adding to their duel-style event win over Oklahoma at the John Jacobs Invitational.
- A top-ten finish for Hentemann in the 5,000 meters at the OSU High Performance Meet. In her first appearance in the outdoor 5,000 meters, Hentemann posted a eighth-place finish in a time of 16:06.26, a pace that ranks sixth all-time in Cowgirl history and first in the Big 12 this season.
- A runner-up finish for 2019 All American Ryan Smeeton in the 3,000 meter steeplechase. Smeeton's official pace – 8:33.22 – ranks second in the NCAA to only the event winner, Ahmed Jaziri of Eastern Kentucky
