2021 Academic All-Big 12 Outdoor Track & Field Team Features 47 OSU Student-Athletes

STILLWATER, Okla. – With the conclusion of Big 12 outdoor track & field competition, the conference has released its list of 2021 season's academic honorees, of which 47 individuals represent Oklahoma State University.

On this year's academic roster, the Cowboys total 16 first-team members and two second-team members. On the women's teams, 27 Cowgirls earned first-team recognition and two Cowgirls qualified as second-team members.

The Cowboys and Cowgirls combined for 12 honorees who finished with the spring semester with a 4.0 GPA, the second-most ever in Big 12 outdoor track and field academic history, second only to the 13 Cowgirls in the 2018-2019 season who recorded a perfect GPA.

In the bigger picture of the conference's academic award history, the Cowgirls rank first in all-time selections (398), first-team selections (351), and 4.0 GPA honorees (70).

The Cowboys' success in the classroom is certainly on an upward trajectory, especially in recent years. Oklahoma State's men have had 16 members earn the award with a 4.0 GPA in the past four seasons, the most of any Big 12 team during that span.

Combined, Oklahoma State's men's and women's teams have the most first-team selections in Big 12 history with 58 and the most 4.0 GPA honorees with 96.

First team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA while the second team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.

To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 20 percent of their team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
