Cowgirls Sweep Longhorns in Top-15 Series

Austin, Texas — Oklahoma State softball improved to 39-6 (14-1 Big 12) on the season with a 6-4 victory against the Texas Longhorns.
The series sweep of the Longhorns marks the fourth-straight conference series sweep for the Cowgirls.
Carrie Eberle got her second start of the weekend in the Circle for the Cowgirls, pitching four innings her 18thvictory of the season. Eberle gave up two earned runs and struck out four Longhorns in the outing.
Logan Simunek came on in relief of Eberle and pitched 1.1 innings before handing the ball over to left-hander Kelly Maxwell for the final 1.2 innings of the game. Maxwell earned her third save of the season.
Oklahoma State got off to another quick start, putting a run on the board in the first inning via a Hayley Busby (1-for-2, RBI) RBI-double.
Texas took the lead briefly in the second inning before the Cowgirls put four on the board in the fourth inning, which included a three-run home run off the bat of Sydney Pennington.
Pennington (1-for-4, 3 RBI, HR) moved into solo second place on the OSU career home run record list with her ninth long ball of the year.
The Longhorns put two more runs on the board in the bottom half of the fourth, but the Cowgirls were able to hold the Longhorns scoreless through the final three innings to secure the series sweep.
OSU is scheduled to be back in action next weekend for a three-game series with No. 1 Oklahoma at Cowgirl Stadium. The first game of the series is set to begin at 6 p.m. CT on Friday, May 7.
