Oklahoma State Opens Outdoor Postseason with Conference Championship in Manhattan

THE BASICS
After closing out the regular season just a week ago at the Arkansas Twilight, the Oklahoma State track and field team will dive right into the postseason with a trip to Manhattan, Kansas for the 2021 Big 12 Outdoor Track and Field Championship, hosted at the R.V. Christian Track and Field Complex on the campus of Kansas State University.
IN THE POLLS
In the first week of the postseason, the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) has ranked the Cowgirls fourth and the Cowboys seventh in the Midwest Region in most recent edition of the Regional Track and Field Rating Index.
As for where the Pokes fit into the Big 12 big picture, in the USTFCCCA Conference Track and Field Rating Index, the Cowgirls slot in at No. 4 in the conference; they traded places with No. 5 Oklahoma in this week's rating index. The Cowboys rank sixth in the Big 12.
LAST TIME OUT
In last weekend's outdoor action, the Pokes competed for the final time of the outdoor regular seaosn at the Arkansas Twilight, hosted by Arkansas at John McDonnell field. Their most notable performances included:
- A school-record 100 meter race from Cowgirl Aaliyah Birmingham. The sprints veteran clocked in at 11.31 in the prelim section of the event, which earned her the third place finish and the Cowgirl record. Birmingham now owns the fastest 100 meter and 400 meter times in OSU women's history.
- Two individual event wins for the Cowgirls – Taylor Roe in the women's 3K Steeplechase and Bailey Golden in the women's high jump – and a relay win for Aaliyah Birmingham, Christina Ollison, Kalaya Ali and Nicolette Dixon in the women's 4x400 meter relay.

Big 12 Now on ESPN+ will carry the Championship on Friday and Saturday featuring live running event finals and field event coverage on tape delay. John Kurtz and Johanna Gretschel will provide the commentary.

MEET SCHEDULE (ALL TIMES CT)
Competition from the R.V. Christian Track and Field Complex will begin on May 14 with the 100 meters as a part of the men's decathlon. Day one field events will open up at noon with the women's hammer throw and day one running events will close out the first day of comeptition when the 10,000 meters takes place at 8:15 p.m. The conference championship will continue throughout the weekend and end with the men's and women's 4x400 meter relays at 6:45 p.m. on May 16.
