Cowgirls Complete Weekend Sweep In Kansas

Lawrence, Kan. — Oklahoma State's women's tennis team earned its fourth consecutive victory on Sunday afternoon, defeating Kansas, 4-2, at the Jayhawk Tennis Stadium to close out its weekend road trip through the state of Kansas.
With the win, OSU improved to 11-10 overall and 4-4 in league action on the year.
The Cowgirls rout of the Jayhawks in doubles started with Lenka Stara and Alana Wolfberg taking down the Kansas duo of Sonia Smagina and Vasiliki Karvouni, 6-2. Bunyawi Thamchaiwat and Daniella Medvedeva defeated Kansas' Carmen Roxana Manu and Tiffany Legarde, 6-2, to clinch the doubles point. Dariya Detkovskaya and Ayumi Miyamoto were leading, 4-3, when their match was called.
Lenka Stara dropped her match in singles followed by Bunyawi Thamchaiwat picking up her fifth consecutive win, 6-4, 6-1, over Sonia Smagina to give OSU the advantage. Alana Wolfberg dropped her match to Malkia Ngounoue, 6-4, 7-5.
With the match tied at 2-2, Daniella Medvedeva picked up a victory on court six over Kansas' Julia Deming, 6-1, 7-5. Ayumi Miyamoto caught fire in the third set, delivering the match-clinching point with her, 7-6, 4-6, 6-3, defeat of Jayhawk Carmen Roxana Manu. Dariya Detkovskaya was leading in the third set when her match was called.
OSU will be back in action next week at the Big 12 Championship in Waco, Texas.
