Cowgirls Defeat K-State In Dominating Fashion

Manhattan, Kan. — Oklahoma State's women's tennis team earned its third consecutive victory on Friday afternoon, defeating Kansas State, 4-0, at the Mike Goss Tennis Stadium.
With the win, OSU improved to 10-10 overall and 3-4 in league action on the year.
With only three indoor courts available, the match utilized a different format. The doubles point was played regularly and was followed by Nos. 1, 3 and 5 singles. The Cowgirls did not drop a match, therefore the match was completed after Ayumi Miyamoto's victory on court three.
The action started with doubles, where OSU dominated the Wildcats, starting with Alana Wolfberg and Lenka Stara's second consecutive doubles victory. The duo defeated Karine-Marion Job and Maria Linares, 6-2. Shortly thereafter, Bunyawi Thamchaiwat and Daniella Medvedeva knocked off the K-State duo of Margot Decker and Anna Turco, 6-2. Dariya Detkovskaya and Ayumi Miyamoto led, 4-3, when their match was called.
Oklahoma State did not slow down heading into singles play. The first Cowgirl to claim victory was No. 19 Bunyawi Thamchaiwat, who defeated Karine-Marion Job in straight sets, 6-3, 6-1. Lenka Stara followed, winning her match on court five over Ioana Gheorghita, 6-2, 7-5, to give OSU its third point of the day. The final point was clinched as Ayumi Miyamoto defeated Rosanna Maffei on court three, 6-2, 6-2.
The Cowgirls will be back in action on Sunday at 12 p.m. against Kansas in Lawrence.
