Cowgirl Equestrian Defeats Baylor In Big 12 Championship Semifinal

WACO, TEXAS- Oklahoma State's third-ranked equestrian team defeated No. 10 Baylor, 12-8, in the semifinal round to claim a spot in the Big 12 Championship meet tomorrow.
Friday's matchup started with Fences, where the Cowgirls took the event, 3-2. The Bears took the first point of the day when Caroline Fuller defeated Sydney North, 81-79. Abigail Brayman got the Pokes on the board, defeating Rachael Davis, 171-166. Emma Pacyna beat Baylor's Maddie Vorhies, 159-148. Savannah Hemby of Baylor evened the contest at 2-2 after she handed Katie Schell her first loss of the season, 157-142. Cowgirl Sydnie Ziegler put the finishing touches on Baylor in Fences with the 176-161 defeat of Gia Gulino.
The Bears answered in Reining, taking the event, 3-2. Jojo Roberson took the first point of the contest defeating Andie Pratt of Baylor, 138-135. Baylor's Bella Jacuzzi defeated Hannah Lovrien, 145-142.5. Cowgirl Stephanie Helsen answered with a 133-130 victory over Jenna Meimerstorf. Baylor evened the contest at five apiece after finishing the event with back-to-back points with Madaline Callaway and Maggie Cincotta beating Molly Mitchell and Kinsey Jones.
Flat and Horsemanship coincided and the Pokes pulled away, taking Horsemanship, 4-1, and Flat, 3-2. In Horsemanship, Cassidy Watters claimed a Cowgirl point defeating Baylor's Clara Johnson, 148.5-146. Baylor took the next point when Gabby Marty won, 140.5-136.5, against Sydnee Gemar. The Cowgirls would claim the rest of the Horsemanship points, starting with Caroline Nelson's 145-127 victory over Katie Davis, followed by Harley Huff winning her ride, 146.5-140.5. Jojo Roberson picked up the final Cowgirl point of the event when she beat Baylor's Kacie Scharf, 156-151.
In Flat, Abigail Brayman dropped her point, 158-152, to Baylor's Caroline Fuller. Cowgirl Hannah Coleman answered with a 143-140 victory. Next, Rachael Davis of Baylor defeated Hope King, 163-147. OSU would claim the final two points of Flat to put the Bears away. Katie Schell won her ride, 157-149, and Katie Pelzel secured the last point of Flat with a 144-125 victory.
The Cowgirls are back in action tomorrow afternoon vs. the winner of Fresno State and TCU in the Big 12 Championship meet.
