Cowgirls Close Out Mizuno Classic in Explosive Fashion

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State softball improved to 23-4 on the season with 5-2 and 13-0 victories against Wichita State and Kansas City.
In game one of the doubleheader, Carrie Eberle got the start in the circle for the Cowgirls and threw a complete game to earn her eighth victory of the season. Eberle allowed no earned runs and fanned five Shockers in the victory.
Offensively in game one, Chyenne Factor led the Cowgirls with three hits and three RBI. Sydney Pennington (2-for-3, 2 RBI) also launched her fourth home run of the season.
In game two, Kelly Maxwell got the ball in the circle for OSU. Maxwell struck out nine Kansas City hitters in four innings of work and allowed no runs. Maxwell moved to 9-1 on the season with the victory.
Savannah Evans came on to close out the game in the fifth inning. Evans allowed just one hit and struck out one.
Nine different Cowgirls got hits in game two, with Kiley Naomi (2-for-2, RBI) and Chelsea Alexander (2-for-2, 2 runs scored) leading the way for OSU.
Oklahoma State found power, scoring six runs in the second inning and seven runs in the third. Five Cowgirls (Naomi, Alysen Febrey, Hayley Busby, Taylor Tuck, Avery Hobson) hit home runs, including Tuck, who launched her first career home run, a grand slam into left field. Hobson also hit her first career home run in the second victory of the day.
The Cowgirls are scheduled to be back in action at Cowgirl Stadium on Wednesday, March 24. The game is set for 6 p.m. CT.
