Cowgirls Drop First Game of Mizuno Classic

STILLWATER – The Oklahoma State softball team fell to 20-3 on the season after dropping its first home game this season to Wichita State 9-2.
Wichita State got off to a hot start, scoring five runs in the first inning behind four hits and a couple of Cowgirl errors.
Hayley Busby led the way for the Cowgirls at the plate, picking up both of OSU's RBI's on a two-run home run in the fourth to cut the Shockers' lead to 7-2 before Wichita State extended their lead later in the game.
Logan Simunek got the start in the circle for the Cowgirls and fell to 3-2 on the season. Mattison Boyd entered the game in relief and pitched three innings of shutout work, striking out four batters in the process.
The Cowgirls play their second and third games in the Mizuno Classic Friday at Cowgirl Stadium, with games against UTSA and Kansas City scheduled for 4 and 6:30 p.m. CT. Both games will be broadcast on ESPN+.
