Cowgirls Close Out Regular Season With A Win At Baylor

WACO, TEXAS-Â Oklahoma State's third-ranked equestrian team defeated No. 9 Baylor, 11-8. OSU claimed MOPs in every discipline for the first time this season on Sunday to wrap up its second consecutive Big 12 Conference weekend doubleheader undefeated.
"I am very impressed with where we are at this point in the season," head coach Larry Sanchez said. "The team has been working hard all year and continues to improve every meet. This is a talented group with great senior leadership. We are looking forward to competing in the post-season, it is going to be fun."
The meet started with Fences and Reining coinciding, where the Cowgirls took Fences 3-2 after going point for point with the Bears. Sydney North earned the first OSU point of the day defeating Baylor's Rachael Davis, 88-86. Abigail Brayman dropped her point to Baylor's Savannah Hemby, 86-84.Â
Katie Schell remained undefeated in Fences with an 85-83 win. Gia Culino of Baylor tied the event up with her 87-85 defeat of Sydnie Ziegler. Emma Pacyna secured the event clinching point defeating Baylor's Maddie Vorhies, 89-86, and earned MOP honors for the second straight day.Â
OSU won Reining 3-1, but not before Baylor took the first point of the contest when Daisy Kaufman defeated Jojo Roberson, 70.5-60. Stephanie Helsen countered with a 71.5-70 defeat of Baylor's Isabella Jacuzzi. Cowgirl Kinsey Jones Madaline Callaway both scored a 71 for no point.Â
The Cowgirls took the final two Reining points via Molly Mitchell's 71.5-69.5 defeat of Baylor's Andie Pratt. Hannah Lovrien finished off the Bears in Reining with a 70-0 over Jenna Meimerstorf.Â
In the second half of the meet, Flat and Horsemanship coincided. The Bears took Flat 3-2. Katie Pelzel defeated Baylor's Savannah Hemby, 74-71, to earn the first Flat point. Hannah Coleman fell 72-66 to Baylor's Maddie Vorhies. Abigail Brayman picked up her second consecutive win the Flat and earned MOP honors over Gia Gulino of Baylor, 84-82. Katie Schell dropped her point for the first time this season, 81-76, to Baylor's Rachael Davis followed by Caroline Fuller defeating Cowgirl Hope King, 81-77, to close out the Flat contest.Â
In Horsemanship, the Cowgirls took the contest 3-2, starting with a point courtesy of Jojo Roberson defeating Kacie Scharf of Baylor, 76.5-70.5. Cowgirl Caroline Nielson defeated Baylor's Elsie Naruszewicz, 73-70.5. Baylor earned a point when Clara Johnson beat Cassidy Watters, 76-73.5. Harley Huff defeated Baylor's Katie Davis 77-75.5 and earned MOP honors. Baylor's Marley Mainwaring defeated Sydnee Gemar 76-75.5 for the last point.Â
OSU will return to action March 26-27 in Waco, Texas at the Big 12 Championships.
