Cowgirls Remain Perfect at Home

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State softball improved to 20-1 on the season with a doubleheader sweep against Liberty. The Cowgirls downed the Lady Flames 9-4 and 3-0.
Redshirt sophomore Kelly Maxwell got the start in the circle for OSU in game one of the doubleheader. In her eighth appearance of the season, Maxwell picked up her seventh win to stay perfect on the season. She allowed three earned runs and gave up just four hits in the victory.
In game one, Kiley Naomi and Alysen Febrey (2-for-4, RBI) led the Cowgirls on offense with two hits each. Naomi recorded four RBIs and also drew a walk.
Jordan Doggett gave the Cowgirl offense an early boost with a three-run home run in the second inning, her second long ball of the season.
For game two of the doubleheader, OSU turned to senior Logan Simunek in the circle. Simunek recorded a complete game shut out of the Lady Flames in route to her third win this season.
Offensively, Febrey, Chyenne Factor (2-for-3, RBI) and Chelsea Alexander (2-for-3, run scored) each recorded two-hit games to propel OSU over Liberty.
Febrey (2-for-3, 2 RBI) launched her team-leading seventh homer and raised her batting average to .478 on the year.
Oklahoma State is scheduled to be back in action tomorrow at Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City to take on Houston. The doubleheader is set to begin at 10 a.m. CT.
