Cowgirl Softball Sweeps Lamar, Remains Undefeated

Beaumont, Texas – The Oklahoma State softball team improved to 8-0 on the season by sweeping today's doubleheader at Lamar. OSU won game one, 8-0, and followed that up with an 11-0 run-rule victory in five innings in game two.Â

In game one, the Cowgirls set a school record with 11 stolen bases, four of which came from shortstop Kiley Naomi to match an individual school record. Sophomore right-hander Mattie Boyd got her first career start in the circle. She pitched four scoreless innings to secure her first career win.

A one-run game until late, the Cowgirls scored seven of their eight runs from the fifth inning on, highlighted by a four-run seventh.

The offense was led by Alysen Febrey (3-for-4, RBI), Naomi (2-for-3, BB), and Hayley Busby (1-for-4, 1 HR, RBI).Â

Senior Logan Simunek came on in relief and recorded the save in the 8-0 victory.Â

In game two, senior left-hander Gabby Sprang threw three perfect innings in her season debut and first appearance since sustaining an injury before the 2020 season. Freshman Savannah Evans closed out the game by pitching the final two innings and allowing just one hit. Sprang and Evans faced only 16 batters in the five-inning win.

The OSU offense got contributions from all throughout the lineup, with 13 different Cowgirls recording a hit.Â

Chyenne Factor, Febrey, Michaela Richbourg and Sydney Pennington all recorded multiple hits to lead the offensive attack, with Febrey extending her hit streak to 13 games with a 2-for-3, 2 RBI performance.Â

The Cowgirls are back in action Tuesday as they head to Lake Charles, Louisiana to take on McNeese. The game begins at 6:30 p.m. CT.
