TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Oklahoma State's men's golf team opened play on Friday at the Seminole Intercollegiate with a 5-under 283 to stand alone in third place at Golden Eagle Country Club.
The Cowboys wrapped up the day two shots behind Liberty for second place at the par-72, 6,965-yard layout. Host Florida State fired an 11-under 277 to hold the top spot on the leaderboard.
Liberty's Alexandre Fuchs fired an opening 65, giving him a two-shot cushion over the field.
Coming off a runner-up showing in OSU's spring opener last month, Eugenio Chacarra continued his solid play. The sophomore opened with a 4-under 68 to share third place. Chacarra's front nine included three birdies against zero bogeys to go out in 3-under 33. He tacked on birdies at Nos. 10 and 15 to get to 5-under par for the day before carding his lone bogey at the closing hole.
Junior Austin Eckroat joined his teammate in the top 10 after posting a 2-under 70 to stand in a three-way tie for ninth place.
Freshman Bo Jin also finished under par on the day, posting a 1-under 71 to come in tied for 12th place.
Freshman Brian Stark posted a 74 to finish tied for 35th place, while senior Ferdinand Müller carded a 77 to stand in a tie for 65th place.
The Cowboys will begin their second round tomorrow at 11:30 a.m. (EST) and will be grouped with Florida State and Oklahoma.
