Cowgirls Sweep Season Series From K-State

STILLWATER, Okla. — Oklahoma State's women's basketball team completed its fifth season sweep of a Big 12 opponent on Wednesday afternoon with a 59-46 win over Kansas State inside Gallagher-Iba Arena.
The victory moved the Cowgirls to 16-6 overall and 12-4 in league play. The dozen league wins are the most by an OSU squad in league play since the formation of the Big 12.
OSU used a 7-0 run midway through the first to move in front, 10-6. The Cowgirls held K-State scoreless over the final three minutes of the period and held a 15-8 lead at the break behind six points apiece in the quarter from junior Ja'Mee Asberry and senior Natasha Mack.
K-State hit its first three shots from the floor in the second to cut into the deficit before OSU answered with an 8-0 run to push the margin out to 31-19 with four minutes to go. The Cowgirl defense held the Wildcats to a 1-of-9 shooting effort to close the period and take a 35-22 lead into the locker room.
Mack nearly logged her 15th double-double of the season in the first 20 minutes, finishing with 16 points and eight rebounds.
After K-State scored five of the first six points in the third, the Cowgirls countered with a 7-0 run capped by Asberry's fourth trey of the day to put OSU in front 43-27 six minutes into the half. Four minutes later, the Cowgirls would string together another 6-0 run to push the margin to 20 at 51-31.
OSU held a 52-36 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
The Wildcats opened the fourth on an 8-3 run to get within 11 at 55-44 with three minutes left, but would get no closer.
Mack finished with her 15th double-double of the year, scoring 24 points to go with 17 rebounds and four blocks. Asberry finished with 18 points on the night as well.
The Cowgirls will close out the home portion of their schedule on Saturday when they host Iowa State at 1 p.m.
