Cowgirls Come Up Short At Auburn, 77-66

AUBURN, Ala. —Oklahoma State's women's basketball team saw its losing streak reach three on Sunday with a 77-66 loss in the Big 12/SEC Challenge to Auburn inside Auburn Arena.
In the first period, the Tigers hit their first six shots from the floor, while OSU got off to a 3-of-4 start and trailed 13-9 halfway through the quarter. Auburn continued to have the hot hand throughout the frame, but could not pull away. Despite shooting 64 percent in the frame, the Tigers led by just five at 21-15 after closing on a 6-1 run.
Auburn opened the second stanza with the first six points to extend to extend the margin to 27-16. Trailing by 13, the Cowgirls used a 7-0 run to get within 31-25 with 3:30 to go before the Tigers would score the next four to extend the lead back to double figures.
OSU would trail 40-31 at the break with the Tigers shooting 67 percent in the half and getting 15 points from Honesty Scott-Grayson.
Lauren Fields drilled back-to-back jumpers halfway through the third to get OSU within five at 44-39. However, Auburn would answer with the next six points to extend the lead back to 11. The Cowgirls would get five in a row from Taylen Collins and got back within 52-46 before the Tigers stopped the run with a 3-pointer with under a minute left.
The Tigers would lead 56-50 heading into the final 10 minutes.
Chloe Mayer would open the fourth with a 3-pointer to get OSU within a possession before Auburn scored the game's next five to push the lead back to eight.
The Cowgirls would not go away, using a 6-0 run to claw back within two at 61-59 with six minutes left in the contest.
Auburn proved to be too much in the end offensively as the Tigers would hit 60 percent of their shots from the floor in the game.
Fields led OSU with 20 points, while Collins finished with 11 and Macie James added 10.
