Cowboy Football No. 11 in First Set of CFP Rankings
November 02, 2021 | Cowboy Football
STILLWATER – The Oklahoma State football team landed at No. 11 in the first set of College Football Playoff rankings released Tuesday evening.
The Cowboys have built a strong resume to this point in the season with a 7-1 record overall and 4-1 record in conference play. OSU's three wins over ranked opponents is tied for the second most in the nation, only behind top-ranked Georgia who holds four victories in ranked matchups.
This marks the 12th consecutive CFP poll OSU has been a part of dating back to November 5, 2019 and makes it six of the past seven years that the Cowboys have made an appearance in the rankings. This is the highest the Cowboys have been ranked in the College Football Playoff rankings since they appeared at No. 11 on October 31, 2017.
Oklahoma State is one of three teams representing the Big 12 Conference in the initial poll. Similar to the AP and Coaches polls, Oklahoma remains the highest-ranked member of the conference at No. 8, followed by No. 11 OSU and No. 12 Baylor, who the Cowboys defeated 24-14 on October 2.
The College Football Playoff rankings will be announced every Tuesday until the selections show on Sunday, December 5, following the conference championship games.
Oklahoma State will travel to Morgantown to face West Virginia on Saturday with kickoff slated for 2:30 p.m. CT on ESPN.
