Cowgirl Softball Powers Past Oklahoma Christian
October 09, 2021 | Cowgirl Softball
STILLWATER – The Oklahoma State softball team showed off its power at the plate in a 18-1 victory over Oklahoma Christian at Cowgirl Stadium on Saturday.
After a quiet first inning, the Eagles were first in the run column on a double and ensuing RBI single in the top of the second.
The Cowgirls' offense exploded after a slow start. OSU plated six runs in its half of the second, then recorded back-to-back four-run innings in the third and fourth, highlighted by home runs from Kiley Naomi, Morgyn Wynne and two from Karli Petty.
Another pair of runs in the fifth put the Cowgirls out in front comfortably as the Cowgirls' starter in the circle, Morgan Day, recovered from her single earned run and fanned three more batters to total six strikeouts in her four innings of work.
Into the circle to start the fourth, Kelly Maxwell continued the success she's had so far this fall. The redshirt junior allowed no runs, no hits and punched out nine in her three innings; she's allowed only a single hit in her 13 innings of work in the fall.
Up next, Oklahoma State welcomes Cowley County to Cowgirl Stadium for a midweek fall scrimmage on October 12. First pitch is set for 5 p.m.
