October 06, 2021 | Cowgirl Softball
STILLWATER – The Oklahoma State softball team earned its third win of the 2021 fall season by beating Tulsa, 7-1, at Cowgirl Stadium on Wednesday.
At the plate, the Cowgirls opened things up with a pair of runs in their half of the first courtesy of RBI base hits from Hayley Busby and Morgyn Wynne.
The Golden Hurricane answered with a solo home run to cut the Cowgirl lead in half in the third; OSU turned right around and added some insurance, extending to a 3-1 lead on a solo shot from Busby.
With the game in the balance in the middle innings, Chelsea Alexander made her presence felt on the base paths after being walked, stealing second, reaching third on an error and tagging up to score on a Brianna Evans sacrifice fly.
From there, the OSU pitching duo of Kelly Maxwell and Morgan Day dominated in the circle. Maxwell struck out three and allowed only one hit in three innings and Day entered in the eighth and effectively shut the door on Tulsa. The graduate transfer from Illinois State struck out seven and turned in three innings of no-hit ball to wrap up the 10-inning exhibition.
OSU will be back in action Saturday to take on Oklahoma Christian. First pitch from Cowgirl Stadium is slated for 6 p.m.
