Cowgirl Softball Claims 8-0 Exhibition Win Over LSU
October 16, 2021 | Cowgirl Softball
SPRING, Texas – Chyenne Factor hit a three-run home run and four Oklahoma State pitchers combined for 10 shutout innings to power an 8-0 exhibition win over LSU at Collins Park on Saturday.
The Cowgirls were first to strike in the top of the fifth after Karli Petty doubled, advanced to third on a wild pitch, and came in to score on a Morgyn Wynne RBI base hit.
Factor added some insurance to the Cowgirls' lead later in the same inning with a three-run home run to put OSU ahead, 4-0.
The Cowgirls added three runs to their total in the eighth on RBI singles from Katelynn Carwile and Hailey Kastl.
After three scoreless innings from starter Morgan Day, the OSU bullpen kept the Tigers out of the run column for all ten innings of the exhibition. Tatum Clopton stepped in to pitch in the fourth and fanned a trio of batters over three innings.
In for two innings of work in the seventh and eighth, Kelly Maxwell struck out three and allowed only a single hit. Closing out the night, sophomore Savannah Evans struck out two and kept the Tigers out of the run column to complete the shutout.
Next up for OSU is Wichita State, which visits Cowgirl Stadium at 5 p.m. CT on Wednesday, Oct. 20.
