FORT WORTH, Texas – Oklahoma State fell to 11th-ranked TCU by a 3-0 count Sunday at Garvey-Rosenthal Soccer Stadium.
With the loss, the Cowgirls fell to 6-5-2 overall and 1-2-1 in Big 12 Conference play, while TCU is now 11-2-1 and 3-1-1 in the league.
The Horned Frogs owned a 12-8 advantage in shots in the match, while also recording 12 corner kicks to OSU's three.
TCU took the lead just under 18 minutes into the match as Grace Collins sent a ball through the box to a wide-open Gracie Brian, who delivered it to the near post for a 1-0 advantage.
The Cowgirls' defense was stout in the opening half to limit the damage as it faced 11 corner kicks and seven shots from the home team.
OSU's best chance to score before halftime came just seconds after the Frogs' score, but a shot by Olyvia Dowell was saved by leaping TCU goalie Lauren Kellett.
TCU doubled its lead in the 63rd minute on a goal by Messiah Bright, and the Frogs capped their scoring in the 79th minute. The third goal came following a penalty kick, which came as the result of an OSU handball in the box. Cowgirl goalie Evie Vitali saved the PK attempt by Collins, but Collins was able to collect the rebound and send it in to put the home team up 3-0.
The Cowgirls return to action Thursday at 7 p.m. when they host Kansas State at Neal Patterson Stadium.
