Cowgirls Knock Off TCU To Extend Win Streak

STILLWATER, Okla — For the first time since 1992-93, Oklahoma State's women's basketball team improved to 5-0 in league play with its 69-50 win over TCU in front of 1,059 fans inside Gallagher-Iba Arena on Saturday afternoon.
The victory was the second of the week for the Cowgirls over TCU after prevailing in Fort Worth on Wednesday. OSU improved to 9-2 overall, while the Horned Frogs moved to 5-5 and 0-5.
In the first quarter, the Cowgirls shot 50 percent with all six players who saw the floor scoring. With the game knotted at six, OSU closed the period on a 16-2 run over the final 7:22 to lead 22-8.
TCU opened the second quarter with back-to-back treys before freshman Taylen Collins answered with six consecutive points for the Cowgirls. OSU held the Horned Frogs scoreless the final 2:37 of the half on en route to a 37-22 lead at the break.
Collins surpassed her career high with her first-half total of 13 points, while junior Ja'Mee Asberry added nine points.
Senior Natasha Mack got going in the third quarter for the Cowgirls, scoring 17 points and hitting all seven of her shots from the floor as OSU stretched the lead to as many as 27. The Cowgirls closed the quarter on an 8-2 run and hit their last five shots from the floor to lead, 63-36, heading into the final 10 minutes.
Collins finished the contest with 19 points, seven rebounds, five steals and three assists, while Mack logged her sixth double-double of the season, finishing with 19 points and 10 rebounds.
Asberry finished with 16 points and seven assists.
The Cowgirls will be back in action next week when they travel to Ames, Iowa to face Iowa State on Jan. 13.
