LAWRENCE, Kan — Oklahoma State's women's basketball team ran its winning streak to three in a row after a big second half led to a 75-51 win over Kansas on Saturday afternoon inside Allen Fieldhouse.
After leading 22-20 at the half, the Cowgirls (12-5, 8-3) exploded for 53 points in the second half on their way to their fifth road win of the season.
OSU got out of the gate slowly, hitting just one of its first six shots to trail the Jayhawks, 7-2. After pulling even at 7, the Cowgirls would go more than five minutes without scoring before sophomore Lauren Fields' layup as time expired to pull within 12-9. The Cowgirls' shooting wows continued in the second quarter with OSU hitting just one of its first 14 shots from the floor to start the period. However, the Cowgirls were able to move in front with two minutes to go when back-to-back jumpers from senior Natasha Mack and a 3-pointer from Ja'Mee Asberry capped a 7-0 run to put OSU in front by four.
The Cowgirls opened with the first seven of the second half to open up a 29-20 lead. OSU pushed the lead into double digits for the first time with three minutes to go in the quarter on a free throw from Fields before freshman Lexy Keys drilled a trey from the win on the Cowgirls' next possession to give OSU a 41-28 lead and force a KU timeout.
OSU closed the quarter on a 7-0 run to lead 50-31 heading into the final 10 minutes.
In the fourth, the Cowgirls built the lead to as many as 31.
