STILLWATER – LD Brown drew high praise from coaches and teammates after his performance Saturday against Tulsa.
Â
OSU head coach Mike Gundy even said that was the best game Brown had played in his Oklahoma State career.
Â
"I'm just playing football," Brown said of his performance. "The offensive line was creating holes and it's our job to hit them."
Â
Brown rushed for 63 yards on nine carries averaging seven yards per carry in the 16-7 victory over Tulsa. Throughout his time at OSU, the redshirt senior has been in the conversation for the fastest player on the team, but he showed a much more physical style of running Saturday that he credits to focusing on gaining weight in the offseason.
Â
"If you're more physical and bigger, then you can take more damage," Brown said. "I concentrated on gaining weight and gaining muscle mass. I've been pushing 200 pounds pretty well, I just hope I can stay in that area just to be able to play and still be fast as well."
Â
When asked about the success Brown had on Saturday, OSU wide receiver Dillon Stoner lit up while answering.
Â
"I was so freaking happy for him," Stoner said. "We came in together and were roommates our freshman year, so to watch him get those opportunities and make the most of them has been really cool to see."
Â
Along with being one of the fastest players on the team, Brown is one of the most excitable players on the Cowboy roster. His infectious personality is usually outgoing, but on Saturday, he was the one receiving the excitement from other Cowboys for his performance.
Â
"If you don't like LD, then something is wrong with you," Stoner said. "He is one of the most likeable dudes on the team and everyone respects that guy, so everyone loves to see him be successful on Saturdays."
Â
When Brown takes the field Saturday he will be playing in front of OSU's career rushing leader, Thurman Thomas, who is being inducted into the Oklahoma State football ring of honor at halftime. Brown knows the legacy he has left behind at the running back position at Oklahoma State.
Â
"It's a big honor for him so congratulations to him," Brown said. "I know he is one of the GOAT's of Oklahoma State."
