WATCH: Braydon Johnson and Hunter Anthony Media Availability – September 1
STILLWATER – With the 2020 football season rapidly approaching, one of the most recognizable figures in the sport is Oklahoma State running back Chuba Hubbard. In fact, ESPN.com recently did a ranking of the top 15 most exciting players in college football and listed Hubbard third on the list.
Hubbard's talent and production make him a Heisman Trophy candidate, but those aren't the only things working in his favor. He also has an offensive line in front of him that paves the way. One of the members of that offensive line is versatile redshirt sophomore Hunter Anthony, who saw action at both tackle and guard in Hubbard's breakout 2019 season.
"Chuba is a great player and when you have someone like that, you want to raise your level," Anthony said. "I feel like all our running backs are excellent, especially Chuba. It makes you want to play to the next level to see him do great. If we do our part, he makes a lot of things happen."
As for Anthony's take on the offensive line as a unit at this point?
"Coach Dickey has us all ready. A lot of people can play a lot of positions and a lot of young kids are going to get opportunities," Anthony said.
While Hubbard and Anthony both figure to have a significant impact on the team this year, another exciting player is receiver Braydon Johnson. Johnson was a problem for opposing defenses late last season, highlighted by an outstanding performance against Texas A&M in which he caught five passes for 124 yards and two touchdowns.
"Making those plays at the end of the year boosted my confidence," Johnson said. "(In the offseason) I was ready to put in work with my team and get better and to get them better and lead them so we can all come together and get a Big 12 championship."
The Cowboys open the 2020 season at 6:30 p.m. CT on Sept. 12 when they host Tulsa in Boone Pickens Stadium as part of the Bank of Oklahoma Turnpike Classic series.
