Cowgirl Soccer Picked Second In Preseason Poll

IRVING, Texas — Defending regular season conference champion Oklahoma State was picked to finish second in the Big 12 standings in 2020 in a vote of the league's head coaches
Texas Tech is the Big 12 favorite, garnering six first-place votes, while the Cowgirls collected three first-place votes. TCU came in third followed by TCU, West Virginia and Texas. Kansas occupied the sixth spot ahead of Baylor, who also received a first-place vote; Oklahoma, Iowa State and Kansas State rounded out the poll.
The Cowgirls are coming off a 16-3-3 season in which they claimed their second Big 12 regular season title in the last three years with a 7-1-1 mark in league play. OSU advanced to the second round of the NCAA Women's Soccer Championship and finished as high as 13th in the final national polls.
Led by All-American defender Kim Rodriguez, along with all-conference performers Olyvia Dowell, Charmé Morgan and Grace Yochum, OSU returns eight players who started at least 13 games last season and a group that combined for 38 of the Cowgirls' 50 goals in 2019.
OSU is scheduled to open the 2020 season on Sept. 4 when the Cowgirls host Texas A&M at Neal Patterson Stadium.
