Track and Field Duo Earns Academic All-America Honors
June 25, 2020 | Cowboy Cross Country & Track, Cowgirl Cross Country & Track
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State's Ariane Ballner and Joshua Anadu earned spots on the 2020 Academic All-America Division I Track & Field/Cross Country teams, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), it was announced today. Ballner was a first-team selection and Anadu was on the third team.
Ballner's inclusion on the team carries significance because she becomes the first three-time Academic All-American in Cowgirl cross country/track and field history. She was a second-team honoree in 2018 and earned first-team accolades in both 2019 and 2020.
For Anadu, it marked the second straight year he was selected to the Academic All-America third team. He joins Ryan Vail – a first-team Academic All-America selection in 2008, 2009 and 2010 – as the only two Cowboy cross country/track and field athletes to earn multiple Academic All-America honors during their OSU career.
Ballner and Anadu join Hannah Webb (soccer) and Vivian Gray (women's basketball) as Academic All-America honorees from Oklahoma State in the 2019-20 academic year. In the last six years alone, OSU has produced 31 Academic All-Americans across all sports.
