Cowboys Dip Into Sixth After 36 Holes In Hawaii

WAIKOLOA, Hawaii – Oklahoma State's men's golf team carded a 6-under 282 during its second round on Friday at the Amer Ari Invitational to slip two spots into sixth place at Waikoloa Kings' Course.
Georgia Tech will take a five-shot advantage into tomorrow's final round after posting a 269 to stand at 33-under 543. The Cowboys' 18-under total of 558 sends them into the final 18 at the par-72, 7,074-yard layout three shots behind Pepperdine and Texas Tech for fourth place.
Tyler Strafaci of Georgia Tech maintained his hold on the top spot in the individual race with a 67, giving him a 13-under total of 131 and a two-shot cushion over OSU's Aman Gupta.
Gupta followed a career-best 65 during his opening round with a 68 to remain in second place. The sophomore got off to a hot start with four birdies over the first six holes before turning in 4-under 32. After carding a bogey at the 10th, he answered with a birdie at the 11th. After reeling off five consecutive pars he followed a bogey at the 17th with his sixth birdie of the day at the closing hole to get back to 4-under for the day.
Senior Ferdinand Müller moved up seven spots into a tie for 31st place at 3-under 141 after posting a 2-under 70 during his second round.
After opening with a 69, junior Austin Eckroat signed for a 73 to stand at 2-under 142 and tied for 40th place.
Freshman Brian Stark finished the day tied for 67th place at 145 after carding a 71 on Friday.
Sophomore Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen's 74 tied him for 67th place at 145.
Competing individually, freshman Dillon Stewart posted a 71 and stands in a tie for 49th place at 143.
OSU will begin its final round tomorrow at 7:30 a.m. (HST) and will be grouped with Texas Tech, Auburn and San Jose State. Live scoring is available at golfstat.com.
