Maxwell Named Pitcher of the Week after Perfect Debut

STILLWATER – Redshirt freshman Kelly Maxwell was named Pitcher of the Week following the first week of the season.
In her first collegiate outing, Maxwell displayed perfection in the circle in a 21-0 win over Florida A&M. The southpaw tossed five flawless innings on sixty pitches while striking out five.
Her perfect game is the seventh in Cowgirl history, last achieved by Lauren Bay in 2002. Maxwell etched her name into the Big 12 record books in addition to earning Pitcher of the Week honors. The Friendswood, Texas, native became the first player in conference history to throw a perfect game in their collegiate debut.
This also marks the first time in program history that a Cowgirl was named the opening week's Big 12 Pitcher of the Week.
