December 07, 2020 | Cowboy Football
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State wide receiver Tylan Wallace and kicker Alex Hale have been named national semifinalists for the Biletnikoff Award and the Lou Groza National Collegiate Place-Kicker Award, respectively.
The Biletnikoff Award is presented annually to the nation's best receiver, regardless of position, while the Groza goes to the nation's best kicker.
Wallace, a senior who was a Biletnikoff Award finalist in 2018, is leading the Big 12 this season in receiving yards with 877, receiving yards per game with 97.4 and receptions per game with an average of 5.9 catches.
The Fort Worth, Texas native was a 2018 first-team All-American and was on his way to another All-America season in 2019 before getting injured with five games remaining on the schedule.
The FBS active career leader with 78.8 receiving yards per game, Wallace is one of 11 FBS players to be selected as a Biletnikoff Award semifinalist, and he is the only representative from the Big 12.
Hale, a redshirt sophomore from Point Frederick, New South Wales, Australia, is one of 20 national semifinalists for the Groza Award.
Injured before OSU's game at Oklahoma, Hale has made 13 of his 14 field goal attempts this year, which is his first year as the Cowboys' starting kicker. He is the only qualified kicker who is averaging better than two field goals per game (2.17) this season.
Three finalists for both awards will be announced on Dec. 22, and the winner will be announced at the Home Depot College Football Awards on Jan. 7.
