STILLWATER, Okla. — Oklahoma State's women's basketball team suffered its first loss of the season with its 76-72 setback at the hands of Alabama on Saturday afternoon in Stillwater.
The Cowgirls (2-1) used a 13-0 run in the first quarter to build a double-digit lead, holding a 22-11 lead through the first 10 minutes. OSU would build the margin to as many as 13 before ultimately taking a 42-32 lead at the break.
OSU scored the first five of the third quarter to extend to a 15-point lead before a layup from freshman Neferatali Notoa at the 5:47 mark extended to a 54-37 advantage.
Alabama (4-0) trimmed the deficit back to single digits with less than two minutes remaining and trailed by eight with 10 minutes remaining in the contest.
The Tide scored the first nine points of the fourth to move in front before senior Natasha Mack scored OSU's first points of the quarter with 4:48 remaining to move OSU back in front. A layup from junior Ja'Mee Asberry extended the margin back to three. However, a 6-0 run from Alabama put the game away.
Jasmine Walker led all scorers with 24 points for the Tide, while Mack led OSU with 22 points and nine rebounds. Asberry finished the contest with17 points and seven assists.
OSU will continue its homestand on Monday against SMU.
