December 14, 2020 | Cowboy Football
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State football players earned three Big 12 Player of the Week honors Monday for their performances in OSU's 42-3 win at Baylor, as wide receiver Dillon Stoner, running back Dominic Richardson and punter Jake McClure earned the offensive, newcomer and special teams awards, respectively.
The Cowboys wrap up the season with a conference-leading 11 Big 12 Player of the Week awards after this week's honors, which are the final weekly Big 12 awards of the 2020 season. It marks the most weekly conference awards for OSU since 2013, when the Cowboys collected 12.
Stoner earned Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week after recording the highest single-game receiving yardage total for an autonomy conference player this season with 247 yards and three touchdowns on eight catches. It also marked the third-highest single-game receiving total in OSU history. The senior's three receiving touchdowns marked a career high and matched the highest total for any Big 12 player in a game this year. His 75-yard touchdown reception on the second snap of the game marked the second-longest catch of his career.
Newcomer of the Week honors went to Richardson, a true freshman who rushed for 169 yards and three touchdowns on 23 carries (7.3 yards per carry). His rushing total ranked as the second-highest for an Oklahoma State true freshman, trailing only the 206-yard game that Thurman Thomas had against Kansas State in 1984. In the second half alone, Richardson rushed for 114 yards to help OSU maintain control and finish the game.
McClure earned Special Teams Player of the Week after he played a key role in all aspects of OSU's kicking game, kicking off seven times, punting three times and holding on OSU's place kicks. The junior had a combined 10 kicks in the game between kickoffs and punts, with Baylor's average starting field position at its own 25.1-yard line following those kicks. McClure's highlight of the day came when he pinned the Bears at their own 15-yard line following a punt with just over a minute remaining in the first half. The play kept the Bears out of scoring range and preserved a 28-0 Cowboy lead going into halftime.
The honors mark the first Big 12 weekly recognition for all three players.
