Cowboys Fifth After Day One At Maridoe

CARROLLTON, Texas – Oklahoma State's men's golf team posted a 304 during its first round at the Maridoe Collegiate Invitational on Sunday to stand alone in fifth place at Maridoe Golf Club.
The Cowboys' 16-over day put them one shot off the pace of Texas for the fourth position at the par-72, 7,521-yard layout. Baylor grabbed the lead through 18 holes with its 11-over 299, while North Texas was a stroke back at 300. Pepperdine was third at 302.
A handful of individuals were unable to complete their rounds due to darkness.
Junior Austin Eckroat led the starting five, posting a 75 to finish the day tied for 13th place. Eckroat opened with four consecutive pars before carding a pair of double bogeys at the fifth and sixth. He would settle in with two more pars and a birdie at the ninth before putting together an inward side which consisted of nine pars.
Sophomore Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen and freshman Bo Jin each signed for opening 76s to stand in a tie for 22nd place.
Freshman Brian Stark opened with a 77 to end play tied for 29th place, while sophomore Eugenio Chacarra posted a 79 to come in tied for 41st place.
A pair of Cowboy freshmen are competing at the event individually. Jonas Baumgartner posted a 1-over 73 to stand in a tie for seventh place, while Dillon Stewart's 79 tied him for 41st place.
The Cowboys will begin their second round tomorrow at 9 a.m. and will be grouped with Oklahoma, Texas Tech and Kansas. Live scoring is available at golfstat.com.
