WATCH: Cowboys Meet With the Media
STILLWATER – Through three games the Oklahoma State football team is sitting atop the Big 12 standings and ranked No. 7 in the nation.
After leaning on the defense in the first two wins of the season, the Cowboy offense looked like the high-powered unit it is expected to be in a 47-7 victory over Kansas. Seeing Chuba Hubbard and Tylan Wallace each find the end zone twice and points rack up in a hurry has helped the mentality on the offensive side of the ball.
"Our confidence is definitely up," offensive lineman Hunter Woodard said. "There is still a whole lot we have to work on, but finally breaking that barrier and putting some points up on the board felt good."
Since the Cowboys returned home from Lawrence, they had a scheduled bye week and on Sunday they learned their next game against Baylor was being postponed due to a coronavirus outbreak in the Baylor football program.
With three weeks between Kansas and the next game against Iowa State on Oct. 24, the Cowboys aren't letting their extended time off cause a lack of focus or effort on the practice field.
"It's not easy, but we're going three days of practices and then two days off," Woodard said. "We know when we go into those three days we have to go full speed because those three days are really important to get ready for Iowa State, then Texas and whoever is after them."
Being 3-0 with its highest ranking since the 2017 season, confidence is high around the Oklahoma State program.
"We realized we can play with any team," linebacker Devin Harper said. "We have a great offense and a great defense so we just have to put it together and win."
