Stillwater, Okla. - Coming off its first Big 12 victory this season, the Oklahoma State's women's basketball team could not fight off a late rally by the Oklahoma Sooners Wednesday night in Gallagher Iba Arena, falling 77-75 in front of 2,558 fans.
Despite forcing 30 OU turnovers in the contest, the Cowgirls could never pull away.
The Cowgirls led 21-17 after the first period. before taking a 34-29 lead at the break.
Freshman Micah Dennis hit a floater in the lane a minute into the third quarter to push the margin to 40-29 before OU answered with a run to cut the deficit to 53-47 heading into the fourth.
Halfway through the fourth, Vivian Gray hit a pair of threes to push the margin to 65-56.
Dennis then hit a trey with 2:44 to go to extend to a 72-61 lead. The Sooners hit a pair of treys to cut the margin and added another with 52 seconds left to tie the game at 75. OU took the lead on a layup with one second left to secure the victory.
Gray finished with 22 points and six assists, while junior Natasha Mack added 18 points and 14 rebounds. Senior Clitan de Sousa added 15 points.
The Cowgirls will hit the road in their next outing to face Baylor in Waco, Texas on Sunday Jan. 11.
