Two-Sport Athlete Bailey Golden Breaks Own School Record in Pentathlon on Day One of the Razorback Invitational
January 31, 2020 | Cowboy Cross Country & Track, Cowgirl Cross Country & Track
FAYETTEVILLE – Oklahoma State's Bailey Golden broke her own school record in the pentathlon on day number one of the Razorback Invitational in Fayetteville, Arkansas, at the Randal Tyson Track Center.
"Bailey had a good day. It was great to see her find her high jump again after a tough start to the season in that event," coach Josh Langley said. "I'm proud of how she has handled herself this year balancing academics, track and basketball. We've identified areas today where there is opportunity to improve so we are excited about Big 12's next month and her next chance at the pentathlon."
Golden, a sophomore from Choctaw, Oklahoma, who also plays basketball at OSU, broke her own record by 242 points. The Cowgirl also recorded personal-best marks in multiple events, including shot put, long jump, the 800 meters and tied her personal-best in the 60-meter hurdles.
In another standout performance for the Cowgirls, freshman Ariadni Adamopoulou finished sixth place in the pole vault with a mark of 4.07 meters. This marked the second consecutive meet of clearing the four-meter mark for the Cowgirl freshman, who broke the indoor pole vault school record a week ago at the Red Raider Invitational.
"Ariadni's consistency is a sign of big things to come," Langley said. "She had a great attempt at 4.17 meters, which would have tied her lifetime best. For her to be at this level this early is encouraging."
Three Cowboy heptathletes competed in the first four events of the heptathlon. Jake Dyer turned in top-10 finishes in the heptathlon 60 meters and shot put, while William Edmonds currently sits in 15th place overall entering tomorrow.
The Pokes are back in action for day number two of the Razorback Invitational on Saturday morning, with events slated to begin at 10:40 a.m.
