STILLWATER – Former Oklahoma State football coach Jimmy Johnson has been elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame as a member of the Centennial Slate for the Class of 2020.
Johnson coached at OSU from 1979 to 1983, leading the Cowboys to an 8-4 season and Bluebonnet Bowl win in his final year in Stillwater. He went on to coach the Dallas Cowboys and Miami Dolphins, leading Dallas to back-to-back Super Bowl wins in 1992 and 1993.
Pro Football Hall of Fame President and CEO David Baker surprised Johnson in studio during an NFL on FOX broadcast on January 12 with the life-changing news during the network's broadcast of the Seattle Seahawks divisional matchup against the Green Bay Packers.
Johnson was also the first football coach to lead teams to both a major college football championship and a Super Bowl victory. He finished his NFL coaching career with an 80–64 record and a 9-4 postseason record, while wrapping his NCAA coaching career at 81–34–3.
Johnson has served as an analyst for FOX NFL Sunday since 2016.
