STILLWATER — It was a tale of two halves for Oklahoma State Sunday afternoon as the Cowgirls emerged victorious with a 2-0 win over Saint Louis at Neal Patterson Stadium.
Grace Yochum netted both OSU goals to record her first-career brace as the Cowgirls extended their winning streak to three and improved to 4-0-1 on the season.
Despite a slow start with only one first-half shot, OSU bounced back with 10 attempts following intermission, six of those on frame.
It took 75 minutes for OSU to break the scoreless drought. After a corner kick by Kim Rodriguez fell through the hands of SLU goalkeeper Mary Niehaus, Yochum was there for the follow-up header to lift the Cowgirls to a 1-0 lead.
Yochum doubled the OSU advantage with a highlight-reel score on a 32-yard bomb in the 80th minute as she went top shelf over Niehaus for her second goal of the season.
The Cowgirls dominated the second half, outshooting SLU by a 10-0 margin after intermission while also taking all five corner kicks in the final 45 minutes.
OSU goalkeeper Dani Greenlee kept a clean sheet Sunday to tally the first shutout of her career. The Cowgirls have posted four shutouts in five matches this season, including blanking all three of their opponents on their home field.
OSU returns to action Thursday when they travel to State College, Pa., to take on No. 5 Penn State before returning home for a Sunday match against Omaha.
