September 29, 2019 | Cowboy Football
STILLWATER – The Oklahoma State football team was one of the biggest movers in this week's USA Today/Amway Coaches Poll and the Associated Press Poll. The previously unranked Cowboys rises into the No. 21 spot in the AP Poll and No. 25 spot in the Coaches Poll.
This marks the first time head coach Mike Gundy and the Cowboys (4-1; 1-1 Big 12) have been ranked this season. The last time the Cowboys were ranked was in week 6 of the 2018 season when they slotted in at No. 25.
Running back Chuba Hubbard had a career night against No. 24 Kansas State on Saturday, tallying a career-high 296 yards, the most by a Cowboy running back against a ranked opponent. Hubbard, a redshirt sophomore tacked on to his lead as the nation's leading rusher, now sitting at 938 yards through five games.
Saturday's victory in Stillwater marked the Cowboys third win in four contests against ranked opponents, the last being a Liberty Bowl thriller against No. 24 Missouri to end the 2018 campaign.
Two other Big 12 teams appeared both of the national polls this week. Oklahoma (No. 6/4) leads the pack, followed by Texas (No. 11/12).
Oklahoma State will look to continue its ascent up the rankings when they take on conference foe Texas Tech this coming Saturday in Lubbock. Kick-off is set for 11 a.m.
