Cowboys Discuss No. 24 Kansas State
September 24, 2019 | Cowboy Football
STILLWATER – Select Oklahoma State football players met with media Tuesday to discuss the team's upcoming conference home opener against No. 24 Kansas State this Saturday. Some of their comments:
Â
Running Back Chuba Hubbard
Â
On his health after Texas:
"I'm good. Obviously, Texas was a great defense. They flew around and they did a great job. They're very physical but that's football. I was definitely sore. I think everyone was but I feel good right now. I'm ready for Kansas State."
Â
On what he could have done differently against Texas:
"You're always going to make mistakes during a game. I wish I could have played a lot better. I'm not happy with the way it went or the way I performed, but I watched film, learned from it and moved on. I'll be better next week."
Â
On Kansas State:
"They're very physical and they know what they're doing. They're coached well. There are talented guys on any team. Every team is going to have a great defense so you have to bring it every single week. If we don't bring it this week, we could end up just like last week."
Â
Defensive Tackle Cameron Murray
Â
On Texas' offensive line:
"I felt like it was a good O-line. They were good at what they did with a good offense and a good quarterback. They had a good team and it was a hard fight up in the front. I think we did alright, we need to improve a little here and there but overall. I felt like we did good."
Â
On Kansas State's offensive line:
"Kansas State's O-line is very physical and that's how we have to be in this game and the game plan. Just taking [what we've learned from Texas] and really come off the ball and sit in our gaps. Using our hands a lot will be key this week."
Â
Linebacker Kevin Henry
Â
On being back on the field:
"I felt good going out there and playing. After coming off an ACL, then getting back in the rotation felt good."Â
Â
On earning coaches' faith:
"Opportunities are once in a lifetime, so I try and make the best of it."
Â
On the loss to Texas:
"Everyone wanted to win the game. It was a close game, but we have to learn from it and build from it."
Â
On Kansas State:
"They run the ball a lot and we're preparing for it. We don't see it a lot, but we're here to play football and we have to stop it."
Â
Offensive Lineman Marcus Keyes
Â
On Kansas State:
"They're a hard working team. We want to match that intensity, be tougher and more disciplined than them."
Â
On Coach Dickey's advice on Kansas State:
"He's giving us some great information on how their defensive guys come off the ball and how to combat that."
Â
On the loss to Texas:
"The biggest thing to take from last week is that our team has a lot of fight in us. That's something to build off. We are always going to keep fighting and try to win."
Â
Cowboy Back Jelani Woods
Â
On getting more looks against Texas:
"It was a designed game plan we drew up for that week. It was pretty successful, but it didn't come out with a victory."
Â
On improving blocking skills:
"I feel like they've gotten a little bit better than last year, but I still have a lot of work to do."
Â
On different offensive game plans:
"Each week, Coach Gleeson will implement more of an offense where it's possible for anyone to get the ball. It just depends on the reads and the coverage of the teams that play in that moment. It wasn't my time, but as long as we get the win and move the ball, I'm good."
Â
Defensive Tackle Samuela Tuihalamaka
Â
On getting more playing time:
"Right now, I'm getting a lot of action. It's kind of fun to get a feel for the game and get experience right now. I'm just trying to do my job. It's a good time right now and I'm having fun with it."
Â
On how being a redshirt last year prepared him for this year:
"I just worked hard and played it day-by-day. It's pretty cool now that I'm here."
