Rioux Joins Multiple Cowgirls In Main Draw Of The Lawrence $15K

Lawrence, Kan. - Oklahoma State's Lisa Marie Rioux is advancing to the main draw of the Lawrence $15K Pro Circuit. Rioux defeated Muskan Mahajan in round two of the qualifying draw on Tuesday.

Rioux, a junior Cowgirl, won in straight sets over Mahajan: 6-1, 6-3. This is the second straight match in which Rioux has defeated her opponent in straight sets. She defeated Kailey Evans in round one of the qualifying draw on Monday.

"Lisa competes so well and she knows the strengths of her game so she has been able to use that to her advantage in the first two rounds," Coach Chris Young says. "She will always make her opponent play well to beat her."

Rioux's pair of wins in the qualifying draw moves her into the main draw of the tournament. She will join fellow Cowgirls Ayumi Miyamoto (FR.), Bunyawi Thamchaiwat (SO.), Dariya Detkovskaya (FR.) and current volunteer assistant coach Vladica Babic.

Thamchaiwat will face Sofia Smagina in the main draw on Tuesday. Thamchaiwat will also compete in the main draw of doubles play with Miyamoto. Babic will face Mayuka Aikawa on Tuesday as well.

Rioux will play in the main draw on Wednesday where she will face the winner of Isabel Gallego Adrover and Anastasia Sysoeva.
