Cowboys Discuss Tulsa
Â
STILLWATER – Select Oklahoma State football players met with media Tuesday to discuss the team's upcoming in-state matchup against Tulsa this Saturday. Some of their comments:
Â
Wide Receiver Landon Wolf
On playing in his hometown:
"I'm excited. I want people, my family and my friends to come."
Â
On the plays of the receivers:
"[The different catches we make] just shows the different skill sets that we have as a receiving corps. Everybody has different talents and everybody got to showcase that last game. It's really exciting for everybody to get in the game and make plays, it just makes us better as a unit."
Â
On Tulsa:
"They are a good team. What Coach Gundy and Gleeson were focusing on today was just preparing the right way and coming out stronger than we did against McNeese. That's going to be important for this next game."
Â
Offensive Lineman Marcus KeyesÂ
On Tulsa's defensive line:
"They're pretty good. They come off the ball really well and we're just getting ready to stop that. We're just trying to get better and focus on us."
Â
On Oklahoma State's offensive line
"I feel like we're all young and working on our craft trying to get better. This offensive line is the most physical I've ever been on and we're just coming off really hard and strong. This young line is getting better and working on being physical."
Â
On Oklahoma State's offensive success.Â
"I expected this from us because we're a high-scoring offense that is very explosive. This is what we do, this is Oklahoma State football, we attack and hit opponents with our tempo."
Cornerback A.J. GreenÂ
On the rivalry between Tulsa and OSU:
"I've played them once. I know the history behind it but it's just another game to me."
Â
On how the defense improved from Week 1 to Week 2:
"Just help leading the back end and making sure we're on the same page. We kind of got our feet wet in the first week, we went out there and showed how dominant we can be in the second week."
Â
Defensive End Mike ScottÂ
On how he feels about the defense:
"I'm pretty happy. We're winning and our defense is showing that we can stop people."
On the difference between Week 1 and Week 2 for the defense:
"There was a big difference. Coach wanted us to focus on knocking guys back, especially the front three and they did that."
On Tulsa's offense:
"They run the ball really nice. Their running back reminds me of our guy Glass. That is a great representation in practice. What the guy from Tulsa can do and what Glass can do also. When we see that in a game, we're going to be able to make plays."
Â
Wide Receiver Dillon Stoner
On Spencer Sanders and Dru Brown:
"I wasn't surprised by either of them. Both of them are more than capable of playing and they both showed that Saturday. I got complete trust in both of them."
Â
On offense's slow start against McNeese:
"Our focus probably wasn't where it should have been. We didn't play very well and I think we knew that. Coming into this week, we need to bump up the intensity and get ready to play Tulsa because they are a very good football team."
Â
On Tulsa:
"They played Michigan State pretty close and obviously, a few things didn't go their way so we know we have to be ready to play."
Â
Linebacker Philip Redwine-Bryant
On the young guys getting reps:
"It's awesome. It gives the guys good reps, builds their confidence and gets the experience up for them. Especially for me too, going into the linebacker positon, it helps get more confidence in me and helps me play better."
Â
On Amen Ogbongbemiga and Malcolm Rodriguez:
"I am extremely impressed. I say I am impressed but I know it's just them and it is what they do. It's not something new, it's something I expected. I'm just trying to learn from them."
Â
On special teams:
"In the beginning at Oregon State, I was kind of letting the team down. I think I picked it up during McNeese and I think I have better confidence going into Tulsa."Â
Â
Wide Receiver C.J. Moore
On playing in his hometown:
"I'm feeling really well. I get to see my boy Shamari Brooks (Tulsa Running Back) play and do his thing. My family is coming down, so hopefully my team and I can come out with a win."
Â
On his relationship with Shamari Brooks:
"We're pretty close. I've known Shamari since we were in the second grade. We've been playing against each other since the second grade. Butting heads and scrimmaging every day and just growing closer as we got closer."
Â
On getting reps against McNeese:
"It doesn't matter how many reps I get or how little reps I get, anything I can do to help the team. As long as we come out with a win, I'm fine with it."
