Cowboys Finish Sixth At Pebble Beach

PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. – Oklahoma State's men's golf team posted its low round at The Carmel Cup on Sunday, tallying a 5-under 355 to finish tied for sixth place at Pebble Beach Golf Links.
The Cowboys finished with a 54-hole total of 1,083, 3-over par, knotting them with Mississippi State at the par-72, 6,828-yard layout. Texas Tech carded a closing round of 344 to finish at 1,045 and six shots clear of the field.
Tech's Sandy Scott used a closing 65 to claim medalist honors, finishing at 14-under 202.
OSU junior Austin Eckroat fired a 7-under score of his own to move up 12 spots into a tie for 13th place at 5-under 211. Eckroat birdied two of his first three holes before adding birdies at the sixth and seventh for a bogey-free outward nine of 32. After posting a birdie at the 11th, he carded back-to-back birdies at Nos. 14 and 15 before notching his lone bogey at the 16th. Eckroat would close with a birdie at the 18th for his 65.
Senior Ferdinand Müller closed with a 74 to finish at 215 and tied for 20th place.
Freshman Brian Stark wrapped up his first collegiate event with a 71 for a 216 total, tying him for 23rd place.
Classmate Rayhan Thomas signed for a 73 to tie for 28th place at 219, while sophomore Aman Gupta carded a 74 to finish at 224 and tied for 38th place.
Freshman Dillon Stewart finished in 46th place at 230 after posting a 72.
The Cowboys will be back in action on Sept. 20 when they begin play at the Olympia Fields/Fighting Illini Invitational.
