July 09, 2019 | Cowboy Football
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State receiver Tylan Wallace, running back Chuba Hubbard and cornerback A.J. Green were selected to the 2019 Preseason All-Big 12 team as chosen by members of the media, it was announced today.
For Wallace, it's another in his growing résumé of career accolades. A first-team All-America selection and Biletnikoff Award finalist in 2018, Wallace has already been recognized on numerous preseason All-America teams in 2019. As a sophomore last season, he ranked second in the FBS with 1,491 receiving yards and was third nationally with 114.7 receiving yards per game. He did his best work on the biggest stages, making 10 catches for 222 yards and two touchdowns in the Cowboys' win over No. 6 Texas and 10 catches for 220 yards at No. 6 Oklahoma.
For Hubbard, it marks the first Big 12-level honor of his promising career. One of five finalists for the Cornish Trophy presented to the top Canadian student-athlete in NCAA football in 2018, Hubbard broke through when he took over as starting running back when Justice Hill was lost for the season. In his four games as the featured back (at No. 6 Oklahoma, vs. No. 7 West Virginia, at TCU and vs. No. 23 Missouri), he averaged 106.3 rushing yards per contest and 5.4 yards per carry. His nine total touchdowns during the 2018 season were the most for a Cowboy freshman during the Mike Gundy era (2005-present) and were the most for any OSU freshman since Donovan Woods had 10 in 2004.
A second-team All-Big 12 honoree in 2018, Green is one of the top returning defenders in the league. A starter in each of the last 26 games, he was consistently matched up against the Big 12's top receivers last season and still finished among the league leaders with 11 passes broken up. Perhaps his two best performances of the year came against the most heralded receivers he faced – Collin Johnson from Texas and David Sills from West Virginia. Against Texas, he limited Johnson to five receptions on 13 targets with two passes broken up and against West Virginia, he held Sills to four receptions on 11 targets with three passes broken up, including a PBU in the end zone on the final play of the game to preserve the Cowboys' victory over the Mountaineers.
Oklahoma State opens the season at Oregon State on Aug. 30. Season tickets are on sale now at http://tickets.okstate.com/football/ or by calling the ticket office at 877-ALL-4-OSU.
