The Oklahoma State Fan’s Guide to Big 12 Now on ESPN+
July 22, 2019 | General
STILLWATER - Earlier in the spring, the Big 12 Conference and ESPN agreed to significantly expand their existing rights agreement, which runs through 2024-25. Under the expanded agreement, hundreds of additional Big 12 sports events annually will be presented under the new Big 12 Now on ESPN+, with each participating Big 12 Conference school assigning available rights to ESPN and delivering more than 50 exclusive events per year.
Here are some answers to frequently asked questions regarding the agreement:
What does this mean for Oklahoma State fans?
Can I watch Big 12 games that don't involve Oklahoma State on Big 12 Now on ESPN+?
How do I subscribe to ESPN+ and what does it cost?
What do I need to have in order to watch ESPN+?
Beyond live events from Oklahoma State and the Big 12, what else does ESPN+ offer?
Here are some answers to frequently asked questions regarding the agreement:
What does this mean for Oklahoma State fans?
- In football, not much will change. Nearly every game will still appear on the ABC/ESPN family of networks or the FOX family of networks, but under the new agreement, one football game per season will be moved exclusively to Big 12 Now on ESPN+.
- In men's basketball, the majority of OSU's conference games will still appear on the ESPN family of networks, but the biggest impact will be felt during the non-conference portion of the schedule, where Big 12 Now on ESPN+ will become a more regular home.
- Where OSU fans will most clearly see the impact of the Big 12/ESPN+ agreement is in sports other than football and men's basketball. In recent years, OSU has produced increasingly more home events from a variety of sports on YouTube and Fox Sports Oklahoma. Those now move to Big 12 Now on ESPN+ as part of the new agreement.
- The impact of the Big 12/ESPN
+agreement will be apparent during the post-season for a number of sports as select Big 12 Conference Championship games will now air on Big 12 Now on ESPN+.
Can I watch Big 12 games that don't involve Oklahoma State on Big 12 Now on ESPN+?
- Yes. Eight of the conference's 10 schools will produce and deliver multiple sports via Big 12 Now on ESPN+. Starting in 2019, there will be games from Baylor, Kansas, Kansas State and Oklahoma State, in addition to the select Big 12 Conference championship events.
- In 2020-21, Iowa State, TCU, West Virginia and Texas Tech will join the lineup. Due to existing long-term rights agreements, Texas (the Longhorn Network) and Oklahoma will not produce and deliver programming via Big 12 Now on ESPN+ at this time, but will be featured as road teams in games on the new platform.
How do I subscribe to ESPN+ and what does it cost?
- A subscription to ESPN+, which will house Big 12 Now, is available for purchase via the ESPN App and ESPN.com, and fans can only access ESPN+ content after they have subscribed. An ESPN+ subscription costs $4.99 per month (or $49.99 per year) and can be canceled at any time.
What do I need to have in order to watch ESPN+?
- Subscribers can watch ESPN+ in the ESPN+ tab of the latest version of the ESPN App, on the web, iPhone, iPad, AppleTV (Generation 3 and 4), Android Handset, Roku, Chromecast, FireTV, XBOX One, Playstation 4, Oculus Go and Samsung connected TVs.
Beyond live events from Oklahoma State and the Big 12, what else does ESPN+ offer?
- ESPN+ offers fans thousands of live events, on-demand content and original programming not available on ESPN's linear TV or digital networks, along with premium editorial content.
- Programming on ESPN+ includes hundreds of MLB and NHL games, exclusive UFC and Top Rank boxing events, top domestic and international soccer (Serie A, MLS, FA Cup, UEFA Nations League, EFL Championship, EFL Carabao Cup, Eredivisie, and more), thousands of college sports events (including football, basketball and other sports) from more than a dozen conferences, Grand Slam tennis - Wimbledon, U.S. Open and Australian Open, international and domestic rugby and cricket, new and exclusive series, acclaimed studio shows and the full library of ESPN's award-winning 30 for 30 films.
