Rogers Claims Gold at Pan American Championships

BUENOS AIRES, Argentina – Former Oklahoma State wrestler Chandler Rogers stepped into his senior level career with authority Saturday, winning freestyle gold at 79 kilograms at the 2019 Pan American Championships.
Rogers went 3-0 at the event to claim his title, recording a 51-second, 10-0 technical fall against Jasmit Phulka of Canada in in the first round. He followed that with an 8-6 decision over Santiago Martinez Restrepo of Colombia in round two and sealed the title with a pin of Puerto Rico's Guzman Velazquez in under a minute in the third and final round.
The tournament served as a ranking tournament for the 2019 Senior World Championships and is a qualifier for the 2019 Pan American Games in August. Rogers is set to compete next weekend at the U.S. Open in Las Vegas in the Roman-Greco division at 82 kilograms.
During his time at OSU, Rogers was a two-time All-American and a Big 12 champion.
