Rogers to Compete for USA in Pan Am Championships

STILLWATER – Cowboy Chandler Rogers is set to compete at the 2019 Pan American Championships in Buenos Aires, Argentina, with the USA men's freestyle team beginning April 18.
Rogers will compete internationally for the first time at the senior level, wrestling at 79 kilograms. Also competing for the United States at the event are four World champions and two additional Senior World medalists.
"This is a great opportunity for Chandler to represent his country at the international event," Zack Esposito said. "We're excited for him, and this is a really good tournament for him to be able to compete in."
The Stillwater High product has international experience, as he finished eighth in Greco-Roman at the 2012 Cadet World Championships. He was a two-time All-American for the Cowboys and finished first at the Big 12 Championship in his junior campaign.
This weekend's tournament serves as a ranking tournament for the 2019 Senior World Championships and is also a qualifier for the 2019 Pan American Games in August. Men's freestyle competition will close the Pan American Championships, April 20-21, with Greco-Roman competition the 18-19.
Wrestling begins each day at 10 a.m. local time with finals set for 5 p.m. each day. Buenos Aires, Argentina is two hours ahead of U.S. Central time.
