Cowgirl Softball Continues March Toward Top 10
April 16, 2019 | Cowgirl Softball
STILLWATER – The Oklahoma State softball team continued its push for the program's first top-10 ranking since 2011 this week, as the Cowgirls climbed one spot to No. 13 in the USA Today/NFCA Coaches Poll and jumped to No. 13 in the ESPN.com/USA Softball Top 25.
OSU has been ranked in the top 20 of at least one of the national polls for 10 consecutive weeks, marking the longest such stretch by a Cowgirl squad since 2010. The Pokes have also been ranked in at least one of the national polls in 22 of the last 24 weeks, with Tuesday's rankings being tied for the program's highest standing since finishing the 2011 season at No. 8.
The Cowgirls are currently 32-11 (10-2 Big 12) and coming off their 10th-straight week of finishing .500 or better.
OSU went 3-0 last weekend, picking up all three victories in a series sweep at Iowa State. The Cowgirls run-ruled the Cyclones, 12-3, in the opener and then scored 18 runs over the next two contests to post their second-straight Big 12 sweep.
The Pokes will look to continue their six-game winning streak tonight when they square off with Tulsa for the second time this season. First pitch at Cowgirl Stadium is set for 6 p.m. and the game will air on Fox Sports Plus.
