Past and Present of OSU Cross Country On Display at World Championships

AARHUS, Denmark— Four Oklahoma State representatives were in action at the IAAF World Cross Country Championships on Saturday morning in Aarhus, Denmark.
Rilee Rigdon, a true freshman for the Cowgirls, ran in the Women's U20 World Championship. Rigdon battled a tough course that featured deep pits of mud and sand among other obstacles. Rigdon came in 84th with a time of 24:49 and helped the United States finish 14th in the team race.
Dave Smith coached the men's U20 for the United States. The 17th-year head coach of the Cowboys led the Americans to a sixth-place team finish. The best finisher for the USA was Shuaib Aljabaly who finished the race in 29th place.
Shadrack Kiprchirchir, a Cowboy from 2013-11, finished the senior men's race as the best American. He crossed the line in 34th with a time of 33:46. Kipchirchir led the American men to an 11th-place team finish.
Kirubel Erassa, a Cowboy from 2010-14, ran the first leg of the Mixed Relay for the United States. Erassa split 6:08, putting the Americans in third after his leg. The Americans ended up finishing in fourth place.
